How does the American political system work? Are the current partisan divisions in U.S. politics and society a threat to American democracy? What challenges does this year’s election pose for the political system and American society? Are we moving towards a “Divided States of America?” The ultimate question is: does this system work, and can it withstand the challenges of today and the future?

In this teacher training, we will take a look at the candidates, and the main issues and topics of this year’s presidential elections. We will focus on concrete and current examples how the U.S. political system is addressing the recent challenges to its structures.
