Dark Monday: „Entertaining the Troops“ by Kirsten Schulze
What gives people hope and raises their spirits in difficult times? MUSIC!
The latest NEAT project „Entertaining the Troops“ by Kirsten Schulze presents the music and songs our parents and grandparents listened to during the dire and dark day of WW2. What was life like for the civilian population on the home front? What did the soldiers listen to in the lull of battle? We’ll focus on the popular artists of the era and how their uplifting music made life somewhat more bearable for those on all fronts of WW2. The entertainment industry of the 1940’s was highly influential in keeping moral high by providing troops with popular sounds of “home” via radio, live concerts, movies, and victory discs under the worst circumstances imaginable.
NEAT is a non-profit theatrical society which presents theatergoers with uncompromised presentations of Anglophone theatre and culture.
