After finishing her engagement at Schauspiel Stuttgart, Hanna Plaß started her freelance journey by heading to the place she describes as the „popcultural mekka of freedom“: New York. While exploring the city, she came across a beautiful graveyard in Queens that pulled her in. Located in a gentrified neighborhood, the graveyard told the story of a previously predominantly Hispanic community. Surrounded by rosaries, tombs, statues of the Virgin Mary, and a view of the New York skyline at dusk, Hanna wrote the lyrics to “The Yard”.
It is one of several songs on her upcoming EP On Track that will be presented with a ritual release tour: each tour stop comes with a ritual inspired by a particular song and involving the audience, thus creating an interactive performance. The concert in Stuttgart is centering on “The Yard”. Together with singers from the area, Hanna Plaß invites the audience to join in the ritual – an opportunity to befriend our shadows and get in contact with what we cast on our surroundings.
Hanna Plaß is an actress, musician, and director. Born in London, she grew up in Germany and studied acting at Otto-Falckenberg-Schule in Munich. From 2013-2017, she was part of the ensemble at Schauspiel Stuttgart before pursuing a freelance career, mostly working for tv and film. Now she brings together her experiences for her first solo project On Track, cutting out her own path between acting, music, performance art, and concert. On Track will be released on July 22, 2022, by adp records.
