Are you an avid reader of American literature? Then join us for lively discussions about books by American writers, with a focus on contemporary authors! In each of our monthly sessions, we talk about a work of fiction, non-fiction, or poetry, or a play.

For Black History Month, we choose to discuss The Sum of Us: What Racism Costs Everyone and How We Can Prosper Together by Heather McGhee. Published in 2021, this non-fiction book deals with the social and economic costs of racism. The author discusses the so-called „zero-sum paradigm,“ referring to the prevailing but inaccurate concept that gains for Black Americans equals losses for white Americans. The book shows how this paradigm damages all aspects of the American life.  Join our Let’s Read group for an interesting discussion about solidarity, economics, and race in the US.
