Are you an avid reader of American literature? Then join us for lively discussions about books by American writers, with a focus on contemporary authors! In each of our monthly sessions, we talk about a work of fiction, non-fiction, or poetry, or a play.
This month we are going to discuss Crooked Hallelujah by Kelli Jo Ford (2020). This book by a first-time novelist focuses on a working-class mother and daughter who are members of the Cherokee nation, and includes close-ups of evangelical religious practice. The debut from Plimpton Prize Winner Kelli Jo Ford made the New York Times Editors’ Choice „Top 10 New Books“ list, Time Magazine’s „Must-Read Books of 2020,“ and was named a Publishers Weekly Best Book of 2020 in fiction.
