The Awful German Language is one of Mark Twain’s best known and funniest essays, in which he grapples with the ins and outs of the (awful) German language. In his work, Mark Twain explores the hardships of using German cases, the difficulty of extremely lengthy compound words, and makes recommendations on how the language could be greatly improved. The reading will be accompanied by live music.
