Empirical literary studies invite us to rethink the extent to which fiction engages our ability to understand different cultures and walk in someone else’s shoes. This research is crucial for teaching stories designed to communicate across ethnic, cultural, and national contexts. This event will focus on the contribution that AI tools can provide to promoting literary text comprehension. Using the example of the ‘On the Move’ short stories, practical ways of checking comprehension, training writing skills and reflecting on literature and AI will be demonstrated and analysed. Participants will attend a hands-on workshop with examples of classroom-based research and also suggest ways of involving students as co-researchers.
