About Us

The German-American Center/James-F.-Byrnes Institute (DAZ) is a non-profit cultural and educational institution that provides information on social, cultural, political and economic developments and issues in both Germany and the USA, and at the same time serves as a platform for intercultural encounters and dialog.

In addition to a cultural program with a variety of events, we offer English classes taught by American teachers, programs for German schools, and a library of English-language material. We also offer advice to local teenagers and young adults who are interested in educational opportunities in the USA.

Between 2015 and 2018, the DAZ received funding for and carried out a project that coordinated programs offered throughout Germany by a network of German-American Institutes.

The DAZ receives funding from the State of Baden-Württemberg and the City of Stuttgart. Other financial support comes from membership fees, donations and project-based grants from the Federal Foreign Office, U.S. Embassy in Berlin and other institutions.
