American Days

The most recent American Days were held from October 16-28, 2018, and as the lead organization, the DAZ celebrated the festival’s 10-year anniversary!

Over the course of the American Days in 2018, more than 90 institutions, associations and German-American clubs put on more than 80 U.S.-themed events, with offerings in both English and German. For almost two weeks, the focus in Stuttgart and the surrounding region was on a range of transatlantic activities. We looked at American culture from different points of view, and got to know German-American groups and institutions. Events ranged from concerts to baseball workshops, and political discussions to talks on trade relations, in addition to art exhibitions and readings, and plays and musical performances – the American Days 2018 featured a diverse range of events, with offerings for people from every age group.

American Days is the largest German-American cultural festival in Germany. It takes place every other year in Stuttgart, the surrounding region, and all over Baden-Württemberg. The festival is a platform for institutions, associations and German-American clubs to present their activities focusing on the USA and on German-American relations to a larger audience. The American Days festival is coordinated by the German-American Center. Funding is provided by the Robert-Bosch-Stiftung, the U.S. Embassy in Berlin, the State of Baden-Württemberg and the City of Stuttgart.
