Villa Hauff

Die Villa des Chemie-Fabrikanten Friedrich Wilhelm Hauff wurde 1904 fertig gestellt. Nach Hauffs Tod 1935 kaufte die Stadt Stuttgart das Gebäude.

Nach dem Zweiten Weltkrieg wurde die Villa vorübergehend als US-Konsulat genutzt. Später fanden hier „German Youth Activities“ statt, um der Stuttgarter Jugend demokratische Werte näher zu bringen – diese Aktivitäten legten den Grundstein für das Jugendhaus Ost des Stuttgarter Jugendhaus e.V., das sich von 1953 bis 1985 in der Villa Hauff befand.

1985 wurde es vom Werkstatthaus abgelöst, das bis heute vielfältige Möglichkeiten bietet, um sich in Kursen oder Freien Werkstätten kreativ auszuprobieren und auszuleben.

The villa of chemical manufacturer Friedrich Wilhelm Hauff was completed in 1904. After Hauff’s death in 1935, the city of Stuttgart bought the building.

After the Second World War, the villa was temporarily used as a US consulate. Later, “German Youth Activities” were held here to introduce democratic values to Stuttgart’s youth – these activities laid the foundation for the Jugendhaus Ost of the Stuttgarter Jugendhaus e.V., which was located in the Villa Hauff from 1953 to 1985.

In 1985, it was replaced by the Werkstatthaus, which to this day offers a wide range of opportunities to try out and express oneself creatively in courses or free workshops.
