How are elections organized in the United States? What makes an election free, fair, and trustworthy? And what challenges do election officials face?

In many U.S. states, the Secretary of State is responsible for overseeing elections and ensuring that they are conducted according to state law. In this interactive online event, students have the chance to hear directly from two current U.S. Secretaries of State – one Democrat and one Republican – about their experiences overseeing elections in their states. Just two weeks after the Midterm Elections, they will reflect on the election process and explore key questions surrounding election administration, voter access, election security, and public trust, while offering insights from different political perspectives.

Participants will gain a unique behind-the-scenes look at how American elections are run and have the opportunity to ask their own questions during the live Q&A session.
