In November, Let’s Read will discuss Wandering Stars by Tommy Orange.

This book, a follow-up to Orange’s award-winning debut novel There There, traces the legacies of the Sand Creek Massacre of 1864 and the Carlisle Indian Industrial School to the present day. In it, Orange not only sheds light on the long-term effects of the massacre, dislocation, and forced assimilation of Native Americans, but also on how ancestors‘ stories play a role in recovering a sense of belonging and identity.
