If you love reading and discussing young adult literature, come visit our Talking Books session in March! We will be discussing American Street by Ibi Zoboi.

Fabiola Toussaint was expecting to have a better life in the U.S. However, upon leaving her hometown in Haiti, her mother is detained by U.S. immigration. She is left alone to deal with her American cousins, attending a new school, and adapting to an unfamiliar social environment.

A finalist for the National Book Award for Young People’s Literature in 2017, American Street explores the American dream and the price one may have to pay to achieve it.
