With the 2026 U.S. midterm elections approaching, American politics has never been more relevant — or more complex to discuss in the classroom. This teacher training provides a comprehensive overview of the structures, processes, and political dynamics that shape both the U.S. political system and an election cycle that will influence the country’s direction for years to come.
Participants will explore the foundations of American government, before diving into the mechanics and significance of midterm elections. What role do midterms play in the U.S. political system? Which issues and candidates are shaping the 2026 races? And what do these elections mean in today’s highly polarized political climate?
The program combines substantive background knowledge with an analysis of the current political landscape, offering a nuanced understanding of where American democracy stands today. A valuable opportunity for teachers to update their knowledge on the topic and take fresh insights and perspectives straight back to their classrooms.
